Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim

Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh

Abu Talib was the son of Abdul-Mutalib. So `Ali was the cousin of the Messenger of Allah (sallaAllahu alaihi wa salaam). His mother was Fatimah bint Asad bin Hashim bin Abd Manaf, the first Hashimite to give birth to a Hashimite. She accepted Islaam, and migrated to al-Madinah, where she died during the lifetime of the Prophet (sallaAllahu alaihi wa sallaam)

Ali married Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (sallaAllahu alaihi wa sallaam) and she gave birth to al-Hasan, al-Husain, and Muhassin, who passed away when he was very young.

His caliphate lasted four years, seven months, and some days, there are different opinions concerning the number of days. He was killed at the age of (63) sixty-three in 40AH.

Some say he was sixty-five (65), fifty-eight (58 ), or fifty-seven (57 ).
