Continuing from A Warning to the Son of Adam about the Origins of Evil by Shaykh Abu Nasr Muhammad Ibn Abdullah al-Imam

"Any Muslim with the least amount of knowledge about Islam and their own condition knows that their ignorance of evil and its consequences leads to corruption, ruin, and the acceptance of flowery discourses from everybody and his brother." Allah says:

"Shall he then who knows that what has been revealed unto from your Lord is the truth be like him who is blind?" ar-Rad: 19

An ignorant person is blind. Moreover, Allah has likened their status to that of grazing livestock. Allah says:

"And surely, We have created many of the Jinn and Mankind for Hell. They have hearts wherewith they understand not, they have eyes wherewith they see not, and they have ears wherewith they hear not (the truth). They are like cattle, nay even more astray; those! They are the heedless ones." Al-Araf:179

In Allah's religion, the ignorant individual is compared to the dead. Allah says:

"Is he who was dead and We gave him life and set for him a light whereby he can walk amongst men..."

al-Anam:122

Whenever ignorance rests upon the following four pillars, the servant is destroyed:

1. Arrogance - prevents a person from submitting to the truth.

2. Envy - stands in the way of accepting advice and doing good for others.

3. Anger - prevents a person from being just.

4. Desires - thwart patience, abstention from forbidden things, and worshipping Allah.
