There are generally three types of sources for historical accounts
The types of History to be considered here are divided into two parts:
While addressing the particular historical account of Islam, we will focus only on one particular nation, country, or dynastic rule. Our approach will use the category of narrative history which is based on the particular historical accounts given from Qur'aan wa Sunnah and the Historians who collected the information given inshaAllah.
A narrative in historical accounts is "one where the statements of the narrator is being enlisted on the basis of his personal observation, and the acceptable and satisfactory narratives have been available to the historian; or the historian have directly observed the occurrence of the event."
The History of Islam, pg. 35
Our example would be Sahih al-Bukhari and his method of compiling the ahaadith, please listen to the dars for exact notes on this topic from "the life of Imaam al-Bukhari"
We advise students to do the following when studying these topics inshaAllah. Read, Reflect, Remember and Receive the Benefits inshaAllah!!! The 4R's
The intent of the following lessons are to guide the student to act upon that which they learn eventually! InshaAllah.

“And let those who oppose the Messenger’s (Muhammad’s) commandment (i.e. his Sunnah legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements) (among the sects) beware, lest some Fitnah (disbelief, trials, afflictions, earthquakes, killing, overpowered by a tyrant) should befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them”
[an-Nur 24:63]
Point of Benefit: Ibn Abi Dunya reported that anas bin Malik (radi allahu anhu) said: I went with another man to see Aisha (radi allahu anha), and he asked her:'O Mother of the Believers, tell us about earthquakes? She said: 'When they authorize fornication, drinking of wine, the use of musical instruments, Allah commands the earth; 'Tremble with them so that they might give up and repent.' Otherwise, He (Allah) would destroy it upon them.' The man asked: 'O mother of the believers, is it a punishment for them?' She replied 'Rather it is some advice and mercy for the believers, but a punishment and curse for the disbelievers.' ...

What is the meaning of lineage?
According to the freedictionaryonline lineage means: Direct descent from a particular ancestor; ancestry
In Islam lineage is to be taken from the father's side of the family. There are two cases mentioned reading the prophets of Islam where this rule does not apply. 1) Isa Ibn Maryam (alaihi salaam) 2. Yunus bin Matta (alaihi salaam) both were named after their mothers.
From the book Kitaabt Tawheed chapter 30
Aboo Maalik al Ash’aree radi Allaahu ‘anhu that the Messenger of Allaah sall Allaahu ‘alaiyhi wa sallam said:
There are four matters of jaahiliyyah present in my ummah (nation) which they will not leave: having pride on account of ahsaab (ancestry), and cursing lineage (of others), and attributing rain to the stars, and wailing over the dead.
*Points of Benefit -
1) Boasting of one’s ancestry – despite the fact that there is no honour except through taqwaa (fearing Allaah and being dutiful to him)
2) Belittling the lineage of others and finding fault with it
